Nigeria Weather

Weather of country is primarily features tropical type of climate where seasons are damp and very humid. Within Nigeria there are two climate seasons prevail within the Nigeria , are namely dry and wet season. Nigerian weather is generally hot throughout year; there are variations in climate in the certain regions within country. Southern part of country is relatively more damp and humid than northern part of Nigeria . In southern areas of country dry season starts from November and stays till March.

 
 

Northern regions are drier in the nature with comparison to southern parts. Dry seasons start from month of October to April.

Extreme weather conditions are there in Sahara dessert, it is hot in afternoon and cold freezing during nighttimes. Weather of country is highly influenced by south western and north-eastern winds. Wind from south-eastern are full of the moisture and blusters from Atlantic Ocean where northern easterlies are dirt-laden and dry that is primarily blow from desert of Sahara . Rainy seasons come into the existence because of movement of ITCZ winds into northern region of country.

 

Average rainfall in southern coastal lines of country is 4000 mm, on other hand it is about 500 mm in north eastern side of the Nigeria .

Although country lies within tropical zone, while wide climate variations are there in different regions of Nigeria . Seasons are sharply defined, near coast. Temperature exceeds rarely 32 Degree C, humidity is high and there are hot nights.

 

There are 2 distinct seasons in Inland. Wet season starts from April to October, generally with low temperatures, dry season from the month of November to March, having midday temperature surpass 38 Degree C, relatively cool nights, and dropping low as 12 Degree C. rainfall average along coast varies from 180 cm in west and about 430 cm in certain parts of east.
